Tips For Submitting:
CHALLENGE HOW AND WHY WE LOOK AND WRITE ABOUT ART
> While we rarely shy away from a typical exhibition review or long form critical essay, we encourage experimental, interdisciplinary, avant-garde writing and expression. We recognize the fact that the canon of arts writing and criticism is often stiff, stale, and restrictive. We are drawn to the alternative, whatever that may be.
EMERGING AND SEASONED WRITERS
> Our team of editors work both individually and collectively with every contributor to the publication. Whether you’ve never published before or you’ve written for Artform 500 times, we work with you throughout the process.
WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE IT WRITTEN ALREADY? IT’S JUST AN IDEA…
> We meet you where you are. In the spirit of experimentation and radical generosity, no matter where you are in the process of ideation, we are here to support you. That being said, with generosity comes honesty. If the submission does not reflect the mission and values of DIRT, the editors reserve the right to decline to publish.
WHAT IF I’M NOT LOOKING TO WRITE? WHAT ABOUT COLLABORATIONS, PROJECTS, PROGRAMS?
> DIRT is always open to collaborate on projects, programs, and partnerships as long as it reflects and upholds the mission and values of DIRT.
WHAT IF I’M NOT BASED IN THE DMV AREA?
> Not to worry. DIRT is less interested in geographic specificity than we are great content.
