Shakshouka Sunday: Ikram Lakhdhar and Rafram Chaddad

Our co-founding editor Ikram Lakhdhar (@lalaik) and Tunis-based artist and food researcher Rafram Chaddad (@Rafram_x) prepared a special Banataj dish (Ingredients: Potatoes, dill, coriander, frying oil, eggs, fish or chicken), and discussed how Rafram deconstructs food to reconstruct cultural and personal narratives. You can watch the IG LIVE here.

The word shakshouka in Amazigh/Tunisian dialect translates to a ‘chaotic mixture’ and to cook it, you can utilize any leftovers of vegetables & spices you have in your fridge to cook a family ragout. Similarly, Shakshouka Sunday IG live series applies the ´shakshouka’ concept as a framework inviting an artist to re-hash the leftover ideas from their week/month to create a juicy conversation.

Rafram Chaddad is a multidisciplinary artist and a food researcher, based in Tunis. As a storyteller, Chaddad draws from stories that are biographical in nature, often from his own family history. Food and traditional craftsmanship are tools at his disposal to tell a tangible truth that can never be too far removed from the viewer.
